Kanye West New Album Has 20 Songs? Co-Writer Says It's 'Like A Pair Of Timberlands'

Fans have been waiting for Kanye West's new album for quite some time now and while there has been no information about its release, the rapper has reportedly "20 finished songs" for the record.

Some of the songs from Kanye West's new album was co-written with G.O.O.D. Music veteran Malik Yusuf, who also worked with the rapper on the "Yeezus" record.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Yusuf shared some details about the anticipated West record, saying: "This album is different. It's like a pair of Timberlands; like how Timberlands are not quite leather and not quite suede. It's not the smooth, slick Chicago music sound we have right now and it's not the ruggedness of just 'hip-hop hip-hop hip-hop.' We're still working like a motherfucker. We've been all around the world [recording]."

Apart from the details of the unnamed album, Yusuf also shared the experience of working on the record in contrast with the previous project he and West did. "We fought over 'Yeezus' every day," he said. "There was no friendly disagreements. It was definitely a war. It's 'I don't give a fuck, Malik. It's a Kanye album, not a Malik Yusef album.' Kanye's kicked me off the label eight times."

The two appeared to be taking their time in the studio as the record was first slated for a September release. In an interview with GQ magazine in July, West said he hoped for a release before the year ends. "I was thinking [the record] could somehow come out in June, like 'Yeezus,' and just kill it for the summer," he said. "But then I'm like, I have to work on Adidas and be with my child."

While the people involved in the project have tried to keep Kanye West's new album confidential, a low quality version of what is said to be the rapper's first single off the record called "All Day" was leaked in August. It was, however, taken down immediately. Musician Theophilus London also claimed that he had listened to the LP but later retracted the statement.
