OS X Yosemite on new iPad?

A report posted on October 7 by Richard Padilla of MacRumors noted that the rumored 12.9-inch iPad by Apple may feaure an operating system that integrates OS X and iOS. The story cited Digitimes as the source. It said that the “2-in-1” device will utilize elements of both operating system while resembling previous iPads.

Pre-Gold Master version

According to Apple Insider, there are still lingering issues in the previous Beta version and these include: Extensions, iCloud Drive, Aperture, iPhoto, Safari, Developer Tools, and localization.

The Apple-focus site also notes that Family Sharing on Pages for the Mac and the iOS App Store remain disabled with the current preview version of the OS X Yosemite, but the Cupertino tech giant continue to remind developer that they will need to re-sign applications with new Gatekeeper signatures. There are still issues with Handoff and TextEdit as well.

Gold Master candidate update

On Friday the Gold Master candidate version of the OS X Yosemite has been released and as Expert Reviews UK noted, “the word ‘candidate’” suggests that there may still be some bugs and tweaks needed on the system before its official availability.

Expert Reviews note that a lot of OS X Yosemite is about making it work better with iCloud and making the integration between it and iOS a lot tighter. The OS’ beta version also had a new interface where the windows are slightly transparent and the Spotlight having been moved from its menu.

Another feature which was seemingly pulled directly from iOS is the new Notification Screen, which pops-out from the right hand side of the display. It replaces the old Dashboard screen.

MailDrop has also been added in the OS X Yosemite, allowing users to send attachments of up to 5GB using iCloud as storage.
