Xiaomi Mi4, Redmi Note release date in India may happen as soon as this week. According to BGR India, the announcement could come as soon as today.The Chinese handset maker is gearing up for the launch of the phablet and has also announced an upcoming flash sale for the Xiaomi Mi4.

The image posted on the company’s FB page shows a traditional Indian diya (mud-based oil lamp), with the message strategically faded to “keep the suspense alive till the October 8 announcement” according to the International Business Times India. Many have speculated it could be for the launch of the Xiaomi Mi4, but it was soon discovered that it was for the Redmi 1S promo where winners can win the handset.

The Business Times note that the Xiaomi Mi4 release date is still up in the air as it’s still awaiting regulatory approval. The “Apple of China,” however is making arrangements to make it pass certifications, since the phone’s hardware and antenna calibrations have to be adjusted to make it compatible with India’s network specifications.

In a Phone Arena spec sheet, it shows that the Xiaomi Mi4 has a 5-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor that clocks in at 2.1GHz, and 3GB of RAM. The battery is packed with a 3080 mAh and supports quick charging. It also has a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP front-facing shooter. It has a 16GB and 64GB variants.

BGR notes that the Redmi Note has a 5.5-inch 720P display, MediaTek’s octa-core processor that clocks in at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, and has 8GB of internal storage with Micro SD card. It has a 3,100 mAh battery and 13-megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera.

The Xiaomi Mi4 launch may not happen before December but it’s very possible that it will be launched this year in what is one of the world’s most lucrative mobile market.
