‘The Amazing Spider Man 3’ Cast Rumors: Gwen Stacy To Return? Mary Jane Watson To Make It A Triangle In The Last Andrew Garfield Outing As Peter Parker?

While "The Amazing Spider Man 3" has been set aside for 2018 (and probably on the latter end), questions and speculations are already abound. Four years is a long time for a sequel and critics are expecting groundbreaking changers from Sony.

There are some things that will stay the same, though. Director Marc Webb did not take the fall guy role and his name is still attached to the project. Of course, that could change in four years, but as of now, Sony has not named or declared a search for a new director.

Andrew Garfield is still on the books as Peter Parker and Sony has expressed their intention to keep him in their fold as long as he wants to. An appearance in the "Sinister Six" movie is also not ruled out.

There is one fixture that would be a shocker to the audience is Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. We may recall her death in the "TASM 2" that was clearly mourned extensively by Peter Parker.

This is a comic book movie and it has already been portrayed in the comics. But even then, the entire premise of Oscorp's research is DNA and genetics. It is just too easy to spin a storyline. In fact, there are already musings that Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper) will be 'preserved' in some way.

What would be interesting for the third installment is that the return of Gwen Stacy (in whatever shape or form) would be timed after the introduction of Mary Jane Watson.

Pop website What Culture points out that it's definitely in the cards:

"Mary Jane Watson was cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - presumably at the point when the studio realised that they'd overloaded the film with far too many subplots already, and throwing in a love triangle wasn't going to help matters."

But it would be a perfect subplot post Sinister Six, when the villains origins would probably have been resolved. WC points out that the actress could still be in question:

On Shailene Woodley playing Mary Jane: "Chances are slim, given that the movie is four years off, and the actress probably isn't looking to get reacquainted with a franchise that so mercilessly threw her to the curb. Probably."

A love triangle in "The Amazing Spider Man 3." How does that appeal to you.
