'Revenge' Season 5 Renewal Unlikely? Cast Madeleine Stowe Waited A Long Time For Victoria's Death

Madeleine Stowe wanted Victoria dead for a long time, since season 1 in fact. But did Emily Thorne's arch nemesis really perish in a fiery end? "Revenge" season 5's renewal, meanwhile, seems to be still up in the air.

Talking to TVLine, the actress revealed that there were several opportunities for Victoria Grayson to die, like at the end of season 1 and the finale of season 3.

She also felt that going into this season, Victoria's story would have ended, and she talked to the writers of the show about her sentiments.

"What is a compelling reason to bring her back, aside from just to bring her back? This is a perfect ending right here. It satisfies something for the audience; Emily got her revenge, put her adversary in the rubber room and Conrad's gone," she said.

On the cliffhanger where Victoria was trapped inside the Grayson Manor, she said, "People have different theories about it all, but one thing you need to remember is that Victoria has displayed that she's suicidal."

"There's always been a bit of a death wish in her. She has a history of that, so this shouldn't be a complete surprise," Madeline Stowe added.

And while fans are hoping for her to come back for "Revenge" season 5 upon its renewal, Madeleine Stowe confirmed that season 4 is her last.

"This is my last season," she said per E! Online.

On future episodes, Madeleine Stowe said, "You'll see some stuff in flashbacks, which will explain more about what her state of mind was. Some people feel that Victoria's story hadn't fully wrapped up, so there should be - unless something has changed - some very strong revelations which we shot. You'll get to understand her a little more."

She also said that Victoria was a conflicted woman, but her actions were prompted by the need to protect her family and environment, so she's not quite pure evil as fans of the show perceive her to be.

According to the synopsis for episode 21 titled "Aftermath," "As Emily sifts through the wreckage of her life, even her closest friends worry she has finally gone too far."

With regard to the possible "Revenge" season 5 renewal, the actress said, "I think if it goes on it would have to be a reinvention."
