4 Killed on Carnival Float Due to Fire in Brazil
Earlier today a parade float caught on fire killing four people and injuring five in the Brazilian port city of Santos.
The float that belongs to a samba group called Sangue Jovem collided with a power line causing a short circuit, after ending their parade at dawn on Tuesday.
A fire department official shared three of the victims was pushing the float; the fourth victim was a woman watching the parade.
"This is a tragedy for our city," said the Mayor of Santos, Paulo Alexandre Barbosa. "We cannot continue the parade in the current mood. This is a moment of extreme sadness."
The incident also caused a power outage for several hours and brought back memories of last month's nightclub fire that killed 239 people. The Mayor suspended the event with three more schools left to parade.
