Toni Braxon Retires From Music: Says She Wants to 'Breathe Again' [VIDEO]

Toni Braxton is retiring from music to concentrate on acting.

I'm not sure what's going on in my life," Braxton said on "Good Morning America" on Friday. "Maybe a female mid-life crisis? My heart isn't in it anymore. I hate to say that."

Although Toni Braxton is best known as the singer of 1990s mega-hits "Unbreak My Heart" and "Breathe Again," many fans are most familiar with her from the WE reality show "Braxton Family Values." The third season of the hit show premiered in March.

Yet at 45, Braxton isn't that comfortable with being a reality show star either.

"I hate to have reality star behind my name," Braxton told the Daily News. "That's just not what I wanted to be when I grew up."

The singer-turned-actress says she may tour, but will not be releasing anything new.

"I'm just not going to do any albums anymore," Braxton said. "Maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects."

Instead Braxton hopes to fully focus on her acting. Her next project, a made-for-TV movie called "Twist of Faith" for Lifetime, will also feature her 9-year-old autistic son Diezel in a small role.

Diezel was originally slated to have a larger role in "Twist of Faith" before Braxton nixed that plan.

"We had originally talked about him playing my son in the movie but I thought it was just too much for him," she explained to the AP. "He's autistic, high functioning, but still I thought it was too much for his first endeavor."

Braxton said Diezel was a bit dismayed by his reduced role.

"He was a little disappointed at first, but I think in the end, he's happy about the turnout," she said.
