Tony Winner John Kerr of 'Tea & Sympathy' Dies at 81

The Tony Award winner John Kerr died February 2 at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California. He was 81.

Kerr best known for his roles in "South Pacific," "The Pit" and "Tea & Sympathy" died of heart failure according to his son Michael. The actor starred in 1956 film of the play about a prep school student bullied because of his suspected sexual orientation.

The actor not satisfied with his acting career pursued a law degree at the University of California Law School in Los Angeles, after graduating in 1969, passed the California bar in 1970 and went into private practice until he retired in 2000.
