'Royal Pains' Cancelled After Season 8? Hank's Search For Love Culminates In Series' Finale?

"Royal Pains" might be cancelled after season 8, probably as a matter of policy. Meanwhile, Hank's search for love might get answers right before the show's cancellation.

As executive producer Michael Rauch told The Hollywood Reporter, "No show on USA has run longer than eight seasons and we don't expect this to."

"While we always had faith that we would get picked up, there were times when we weren't so sure," he said."

"Royal Pains" was eventually renewed for season 7 and season 8, which will consist of eight episodes each. On the eight season, the show will also mark it's 100thepisode.

There's no word yet on what happens to "Royal Pains" after season 8, whether it will be cancelled or renewed.

"The thought of not being able to end a show that we love and characters whom we love so much with the proper ending would have been heartbreaking," he said. "We want to seize this opportunity and make assumptions that the end of season eight will be the end of the series so that we can plan accordingly."

"'Royal Pains' follows the continuing adventures of a former ER doctor (Mark Feuerstein) from New York who, along with his younger brother (Paulo Costanzo), runs a concierge doctor business in The Hamptons. The show's cast includes Reshma Shetty, Brooke D'Orsay, Campbell Scott, and Ben Shenkman."

On the "Royal Pains" season 7 and 8 renewal, USA Network president Chris McCumber said in a statement, "'Royal Pains' remains a staple for fun summer TV viewing, and we are pleased to bring back the series for two additional seasons. We're extremely proud of both the talent and creative team, who, season after season, have brought to life to these relatable and multifaceted stories, which continue to attract a loyal fan base."

Meanwhile, Michael Rauch talked about the "Royal Pains" season 8 finale, and Hank possibly finding romance.

"Hank's search for love has been something that began in the pilot, and hopefully, we plan it will end at the end of season eight," he said.

"It's a big part. Divya has Sashi, and Evan has Paige ... we'll be having some fun with Jeremiah, Boris has Marisa and Carlos, and ... Hank is the person who has everyone, and yet at the same time, no one in his life is as fulfilling as the partners the other characters have."

While there's no confirmed word whether "Royal Pains" gets renewed or cancelled after season 8, the executive producer said that Hank's "search for this partner is something that's going to push us from episode to episode throughout season seven and season eight."
