Derek Fisher Signs With Oklahoma City Thunder; Hoping To Get Sixth Championship

Derek Fisher signs with the Oklahoma City Thunder today.

In back-to-back seasons, the Thunder have signed veteran point guard, Derek Fisher, for the remainder of the season.

Last season brought playoff experience that OKC did not have much of. He helped catapult the team to the NBA finals, only to lose to Lebron James and the Miami Heat.

Fisher played 20 regular season games for the Oklahoma City franchise, not producing eye-catching numbers, but producing quality when on the floor. He averaged 4.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.4 assist in 20 minutes per game.

His leadership and basketball wisdom is what the team needed to take one step closer to the Larry O'Brien trophy.

This was a tweet via the Thunder's official Twitter page.

In the playoffs, he scored more, rebounded more and assisted more. He averaged 22.3 minutes, scoring 6.3 points per game, grabbing 1.6 boards and passing out 1.5 assist.

Fisher's playoff experiences consist of five NBA titles with the LA Lakers. He once hit a game-winning three pointer with .04 seconds left in the game. That shot caused the Lakers to gain momentum and win the game-5 matchup against the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semi-finals.

Since his glory days in LA, Fisher has floated around the league. He's played for the Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors, the Lakers again and now the Thunder again.

It's one more opportunity to join an elite club of men who have won six NBA titles. Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are among some of the six plus category.

Kevin Durant welcomed the veteran back with his own tweet. Short and simple.

Welcome back @derekfisher

Without Kevin Harden on this Thunder team any longer, Fisher will be involved in a rotation that is still adjusting to life without Harden.

The Thunder are second in the Western Conference and are all ready on track to possibly be in the NBA finals again, but this time, hoping for a different result.
