Tiger Woods Barefoot Shot Shocks Golf Fans; Woods' "Explosion Shot" Of Submerged Ball Preserves Spot In Honda Classic [VIDEO]

Tiger Woods’ barefoot shot made heads spin at the Honda Classic golf tournament on Thursday, Feb. 28.

Tiger Woods, the 37-year-old professional golfer, made a barefoot shot at the Honda Classic to save his golf game, putting him at an even par after the first day of the tournament.

The barefoot shot was apparently necessary, due to Woods’ less than satisfactory start to the game.

Woods hit bogeys on his first and fourth holes, which means he took more strokes than the hole allowed. He got back on track with two birdies, or shots under par, on the last nine holes of the course, according to the Inquisitr.

On the par-four sixth hole, Woods showed off his remarkable skills by saving the tee-shot he hooked into the water.

Woods took his shoes off, put on his rain pants and played the ball out of the water, where it was submerged.

Woods reportedly said that he needed to be barefoot with his nine-iron club in the water to use an “explosion shot” to get back in the running to win the match.

He told Yahoo News, “It was only half submerged so I could play some sort of explosion shot and get it back in the fairway. I wasn’t trying to advance it very far, just get it back on the fairway and give myself some sort of wedge shot in there—which I did and got up and down.”

“If I didn’t get that up-and-down, I am looking at a six, three-over [par], and all of a sudden I flip it, make par there and birdie the next. Could have easily been three [over par] and all of a sudden I’m even,” he continued.

Woods’ landed in the 61st place of the Honda Classic, where he is tied with number-one-ranked golfer Rory McIlroy.
