Emma Watson Cinderella Role: ‘Perks Of Being A Wallflower’ Star Cast In Live Action Adaptation Of Disney Classic

Emma Watson will play Cinderella in a new live adaptation of the Disney classic, after her successful role in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.

Emma Watson is being pursued to star in the Disney live-action version of Cinderella, to be directed by Kenneth Branagh.

The 22-year-old Watson, famous for her role as Hermione in the Harry Potter films, will be playing Cinderella.

She has recently starred in the well-received The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which won an Independent Spirit Award recently.

Watson tweeted about the award, saying, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower just won best first feature at the Independent Spirit Awards and I am SO proud. I love our movie so much : )"

Watson had a slow start to her acting career after her highly recognizable role in Harry Potter, taking TV roles and concentrating on fashion-related work.

But, her success in The Perks of Being A Wallflower has opened the door to more opportunities to act in meaningful and heavier projects.

Watson has a leading role in Sofia Coppola's celebrity-thief drama The Bling Ring, and plays herself in the comedy This Is The End alongside James Franco.

It has been reported that Disney's live adaptation of Cinderella starring Watson will closely resemble other recent adaptations of classics like Alice in Wonderland and Oz the Great and Powerful in their highly visual nature.

Interestingly, Watson is starring in a soon-to-be released Guillermo del Toro live adaptation of 'Beauty and the Beast', another Disney animated classic.

Cate Blanchett has already been cast as the wicked stepmother to Watson's Cinderella. Filming is likely to begin later this year, whether or not Watson decides to take the role.
