Girl Survives Jet Crash, Other Passengers Die In The French Alps

A girl survived a small passenger jet crash in a residential area of the French Alps on Monday. The other two people on board, however, were killed.

The crash occurred in a residential area of the French Alps shortly after the jet took off from Annemasse in eastern France, approximately 3 miles (5km) away from Geneva.
Firefighters found the girl in the wreckage, alive but severely injured and suffering from multiple fractures.

No one was reported injured on the ground, but the other two passengers did not survive the jet crash.

The identities of the crash victims and the survivor have not yet been release by officials. The girl is said to be about 15-years-old and, according to the Daily Mail, indicated the pilot of the small jet was her father.

The girl is currently being treated for the serious injuries she sustained in the jet crash. Authorities report she has a crushed pelvis and several other fractures, but none of her injuries are life-threatening and she is expected to make a full recovery.

The aircraft was a PRM1 twin-engined corporate jet, a small passenger plane.

The plane reportedly began having difficulties soon after it took off from the small French airport.

Sate official Pierre Molager describe the incident. "It hit the roof of a first house before it crashed in the yard of a neighboring house," he told Reuters.

Photos released of the crash show the aircraft in flames in the garden. There was also a path of upturned earth leading to the crash site.

It is still unclear what exactly caused the jet to crash, but an investigation is underway.

Another small plane crashed Monday in New Mexico killing all four passengers on board.

The crash happened during the single-engine jet's takeoff at a small airport in northern New Mexico.

The victims have been identified by New Mexico State Police.

The pilot was 33-year-old John Phillip Verhalen III. The other passengers were his 41-year-old sister, Sara Verhalen, her 13-year-old daughter, Chloe Marie Jameson, and the pilot's 26-year-old girlfriend, Jennifer Woodward.

The cause of the jet crash is also currently under investigation.
