Boy Keeps Dad Alive For 10 Days After Fall in Nebraska Home

A 10-year-old boy keeps his father alive for more than a week after he slipped on a wet floor at the family's home in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The father, Bienvenu Asumani 45-year-old was cared by his son Peter Asumani giving him liquids and foods according to an affidavit filed in Lancaster County Juvenile Court.

Lincoln police spokeswoman Katie Flood said Monday that an investigator went to the family's home Friday after the boy's principal notified police to report that the boy hadn't been in school for four days.

Peter said that his father fell on a wet floor more than a week before, striking his head. During that period the boy shared that he gave his father fluids and nutritional items.

According to reports the man was breathing and eyes were open however couldn't respond or answer questions. He was taken to Bryan Medical Center West hospital, while his son was placed in state custody.

Peter told officials that he couldn't communicate with his father and the two lived alone, that his mother was in Africa while he had relatives in Arizona. Flood said it was unclear whether he knew about the emergency 911 system or if he tried to contact a neighbor or anyone else for help.

Russ Reno a spokesman of Nebraska Health and Human Services Department only confirmed that the boy was in foster care on Monday. Although he didn't directly comment on the case said that most likely the department will immediately begin searching for a relative.
