Player Chokes Teammate During Basketball Game in Philippines [VIDEO]

Former NBA player Renaldo Balkman had a meltdown during a game on Friday in which he puts his hands around a teammate's neck and chokes him.

The former New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets forward, now plays for the Petron Blaze Boosters of the Philippine Basketball Association, although might not be much longer after the incident.

Balkman misfired on a shot in the paint in the final minute with the Boosters trailing by seven, against the Alaska Aces in the 2013 PBA Commissioner's Cup. He seemed to appear upset that no foul was called. He then began arguing with the referee, before pushing one of his assistant coaches away before arguing with another official.

As Balkman shouted at a third referee, finally his teammates tried to intervene. It went from bad to worse as he then pushed and shove with teammate Arwind Santos then even briefly put his hands around Santos' throat before he was finally pulled away.

Balkman then went on to issue a public apology for his actions Friday.

"I am a professional, I am not supposed to do that. I already apologized to Arwind (Santos), his family and my teammates, including our bosses," he said, via the team's official Facebook page. "Everybody does something once in a life, they're not supposed to do At the time I blanked out and went at it. It's my first time ever in my entire life to do that."

Balkman also apologized on Twitter.
