'Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills' Star Kim Richards Arrested! Reality Star Apprehended For Shoplifting?

"Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kim Richards has been arrested for shoplifting.

The Van Nuys Police Department told Entertainment Tonight that the former "RHOBH" star was allegedly placed under citizen's arrest on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 4:25 p.m.

By 7:29 p.m. PT of the same day, Richards was booked at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys, California. She spent the night in jail and was released Monday afternoon after posting a $5,000 bail.

Van Nuys authorities told E! News that the former reality star stole items from a Target store near her home in the San Fernando Valley. Apparently, the amount of items stolen was worth more than $600.

It was alleged that security personnel spotted her taking several items and she was simultaneously placed under a citizen's arrest until the police arrived at the store. However, it's unclear how "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kim Richards purportedly stole the items.

The Van Nuys Police Department is not releasing a mug shot at this time. According to them, they will be turning the case over to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office. It's up to the prosecutors to determine whether to press charges against Richards or not.

"I couldn't imagine Kim stealing or shoplifting anything," Monty, Richards' ex-husband, told ET. "She is a giver. I am in complete shock. Guaranteed this must be some kind of mistake, and the facts will come out soon. She was arrested for shoplifting toys in a cart, but this was a clear misunderstanding. This was not alcohol or drug related."

The 50-year-old reality star's struggles with sobriety have been an open book, and she recently sat down for an exclusive interview with ET to address her problem. She also shared what really took place when she was arrested for public intoxication at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

"I love sobriety," she told ET. "I've always loved sobriety and relapsing was very hard for me. It was not easy. I have to say, don't take this wrong, but I really wanted to go treatment because I needed a break from what I was going through at home."

Apparently, her relapse was caused by family stress.

"Monty, my ex-husband, is very sick and my son wasn't well. And I had to give away my dog, and I wasn't talking to my sister [Kyle Richards]," she said.

ET has reached out to "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kim Richards' rep for comment but is yet to receive a response.
