Chris Hyndman, Co-Host Of CBC's 'Steven And Chris' Dead At 49; Body Found In A Toronto Alley!

Chris Hyndman, CBC talk show host, was found dead in an alleyway in Toronto's East End late Monday night. He was 49.

The network confirmed news of his death on Tuesday afternoon, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died early this morning," the statement read. "We extend our deepest sympathies to Steven, family, friends, colleagues and his many fans at this most difficult time; our thoughts are with them all."

Hyndman is a native Canadian, having been born in the province of Newfoundland. He co-created The Sabados Group, a design company, with Steven Sabados in 1992. Sabados would eventually become his husband and co-host in the HGTV (Canada) lifestyle show "Designer Guys". The two also penned "Designer Guys: Finding Your Personal Style", a best-selling book of 2003.

Chris Hyndman later co-hosted CBC's popular daytime talk show "Steven and Chris", which has been airing since 2008.

Us Weekly learned through Hyndman's fellow CBC personality Eli Glasner that the alley was near Hyndman's apartment, which he shared with Sabados.

Toronto police informed CBC that the investigation into the death of Hyndman is "completely open". They did not divulge further details, and according to Detective Terry Wray, no further comments will be made until all interviews had been completed.

"I think about the loss for Steven, that his partner for 25 years is gone and that our friend is gone," the network's executive director Jennifer Dettman shared on Tuesday. "And certainly for the CBC, he will leave a hole. He really touched so many Canadians across this country. We saw the emails day in and day out of what he meant to them."

Meanwhile, Hyndman's mother told the Toronto Star that she believes her only child fell to his death while sleepwalking.

Glenda Hyndman said Hyndman died in an "unfortunate accident" when she spoke to a Star reporter through an emotional phone interview.

Toronto Police spokesperson Meaghan Gray is not confirming this, although she did imply that police do not suspect anything criminal or suspicious.

"Christopher was a sleepwalker, and he did that a lot. He even ate in his sleep," Glenda Hyndman said of her son. "It's not good, but that's his reality."
