Robin Williams’ Death Anniversary: Co-Star And Fans Cry Disrespect Over 'Jumanji' Remake

Sony has announced last week that a remake of "Jumanji" is coming. But Robin Williams' former co-star and fans expressed their disappointment, ahead of his death anniversary, with some saying it's too soon to do a remake of a film that he's fondly remembered of.

As reported by TMZ, Bradley Pierce, who starred alongside the actor in "Jumaji" 20 years ago, he's hesitant of the project.

"What frustrates me about it a little bit is, okay, Sony says they're gonna do a reboot," he explained. "That's fine. But they didn't do it with Robin Williams around. For me, it feels at this point, I don't know, a little insensitive."

In a report on E! Online, it was mentioned that Twitter was filled with rants about the remake last week. Some found the idea revolting as it has only been a year since the actor died and he was the lead star of the movie.

"Robin Williams just died and everyone's remembering him," one fan tweeted as quoted by the source above. "Let's piss on his ashes and remake 'Jumanji,'"

"I am pretty sure I will always believe it is too soon to reboot #Jumanji and #Aladdin #ForeverMissingRobinWilliams," another wrote.

"@SonyPictures is remaking 'Jumanji,'" another posted. "And I'm pissed. So disrespectful to Robin Williams. Just too money hungry to care I suppose."

Sony made the announcement of the reboot just last Wednesday. The company said the movie was slated for a 2016 release, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It's Robin Williams' first death anniversary on Tuesday. Some of his friends, including Margaret Cho, has already taken to Twitter to remember him.

"Our friend wrote this," she explained as she shared Dan Spencer's "Life Lessons from Robin Williams." "I miss Robin so much."

The actor's daughter Zelda Williams, meanwhile, has taken a social media break since two weeks ago prior to her dad's birthday and death anniversary.
