'Wayward Pines' Renewed Or Cancelled? New Characters Coming To The Show?

With the cliffhanger of a finale, speculations have been flying about whether or not "Wayward Pines" is going to be renewed. But at this point, showrunner Chad Hodge feels that the series is going to be cancelled.

He told Entertainment Weekly that the story was not meant to last two seasons.

"It was the end. Period," he said. "Really what it does is it comes full circle. Just as Ethan woke up in episode 1 and found himself in this strange town of Wayward Pines, in a hospital bed with a nurse standing above him, and then he walks up Main St. to find this strangely odd town and people staring at him, it's actually partly shot-for-shot exactly what we did in the first episode as Ben comes up Main St. and sees people starring at him."

"It's meant to be full circle that Ben is now experiencing, in a way, exactly what his father experienced when he came to Wayward Pines. Not that much has changed, but in fact, things have maybe gotten a little worse," he added.

However, he did tease that Fox has raised the idea of "Wayward Pines" being renewed, "but nothing is official yet."

According to Deadline, "Wayward Pines" hit off to a slow start before peaking at week 4 when it posted an average of 2.2 rating. This could be the reason why there's talk of the series being renewed rather than cancelled.

"The somewhat surprisingly solid and consistent ratings performance by Wayward Pines has not gone unnoticed. I hear there is interest in another season of the mystery series," Nellie Andreeva wrote.

"Because of the long time frame between the project's pickup/production and its airdate, the options on all actors lapsed long ago."

So will "Wayward Pines" be renewed or cancelled? Unfortunately right now, all clues point to the series being pulled out.
