Joan Rivers' life and death were remembered in a TV special. The feature was reported by People, which showed how the late comedienne's daughter, Melissa Rivers, seems to be still not over the tragedy.

Joan Rivers' death shocked the world a year ago when she passed away following a botched procedure at Yorkville Endoscopy. The Upper East side outpatient clinic is currently facing a multi-million dollar medical malpractice lawsuit for allegedly neglecting the then 81-year-old TV star during a routine throat operation.

Right from the start of the TV special, Melissa Rivers focused on Joan Rivers' life than her tragic death. The program showed the comedy icon's red carpet moments and some scenes from her popular show "Fashion Police."

"We are remembering her the only way she would have wanted, and that's through laughter," the 47-year-old said. "While Joan loved dogs, her favorite word was definitely more related to cats."

The "Fashion Police" executive producer also talked about how Joan Rivers was notorious for being overly frank and sexual.

"Some parents never talked to their kids about sex. My mother on the other hand, never stopped," Melissa Rivers joked.

"Outrageous was normal for Joan Rivers."

Even though her mother was known for being loud and obnoxious, Melissa Rivers shared how she died in a very peaceful manner. The details were reported by Mirror UK.

"I made sure she was in no pain and surrounded by those that she loved and loved her the most," Melissa Rivers narrated.

"That she looked amazing and that the room was filled with flowers and music."

"I got into her bed and held her for a while. It was very peaceful," she added.

While she had a hard time coping with Joan Rivers' death, Melissa Rivers shared that her teenage son, Cooper Endicott, struggled more.

According to an update from Daily Mail, the TV star's son is now tring to do better following his grandmother's untimely passing.

"He is figuring it all out[...] what is the new normal," Melissa Rivers said. "It just takes time."

"[Joan Rivers] was literally happiest when she was working or with Cooper," she added.
