IU Gets Featured on US Billboard.com

IU received attention in United States by being featured on the prestigious music chart website Billboard.com

On January 11th, Billboard.com wrote an article on IU titled 'Singer IU Spends Fifth Week at No. 1' and explained the hype behind IU.

Billboard wrote that "HiTeen solo artist IU has been active in the music world from the start of this year as she has done the year before" and that "the new single 'You and I' has been holding the 1st place on the KPop chart on Billboard for five consecutive weeks." The article also embedded the music video for 'You and I.'

Billboard also discussed the music business in Korea to discuss IU's feat in perspective. They wrote that "the digital music market in South Korea is so large and developed that it's hard to maintain the top spot" and praised IU on her success.

Billboard showed great interest in IU's image and musical style. They compared IU's voice to the British singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae and said "IU's music is unique in the way that it combines her Corinne Bailey Rae reminiscent voice with her cute schoolgirl charisma."

In addition to IU, other Kpop artists that had held the number one place on the Billboard Kpop Chart since its creation was mentioned briefly in the article. The artists mentioned were Davichi who had held the spot for three weeks, Huh Gak and T-Ara. Their music videos were also embedded on the page.
