Demi Lovato Compares Herself To Justin Bieber; Recalls Struggles As A Young Entertainer

Demi Lovato compared herself to Justin Bieber as she recalled her struggles as a young entertainer.

According to a report from Yahoo Celebrity, the "Cool for the Summer" songstress talked about growing up in the public eye during a recent interview with KISS FM Radio. The 23-year-old singer-actress then pointed out her similarities with the "What do You Mean" pop star, who she said has seemingly changed his once-troubled ways.

"I think everyone's got the fever again," Demi Lovato said about Justin Bieber.

"Good for him. He's really changed for the best. The hardest thing is growing up in this industry."

"I went through it and the thing is, when you hit a certain amount of success you also still have to figure out how to be a teenager," she recalled.

Both Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber started their musical careers when they were just teenagers. The former "Camp Rock" lead actress has been open about how she struggled with substance abuse, eating disorders and bipolar tendencies at the height of being a teen star.

"It's the most confusing time in anyone's life," she explained.

Just recently, Demi Lovato made news about how she defended herself from "Stupid Girl" singer Pink.

According to a report from MTV, the more senior pop star's negative comments on social media about the MTV Video Music Awards made it seem like she dissed Demi Lovato and other younger talents who performed at the show.

"I felt embarrassed and sad[...] music is supposed to inspire. It saved my life. This trash won't save any kids life," Pink said about performers at this year's VMAs, which included Demi Lovato.

"Beside Macklemore and Pharrell and Bieber (pre-sob fest) and The Weekend, Tori Kelly was dope too."

"The rest was gross and embarrassing and hard for this aging pop star to believe," Pink scoffed.

After fans noticed how the pop veteran excluded Demi Lovato from her list, Too Fab reported about how the former Disney star spoke up about the issue.

"'Cool For The Summer' may not 'save kid's lives' or 'inspire' but I'd say Skyscraper and Warrior have done a pretty good job of helping people cope with mental illness," Demi Lovato tweeted.

"VMA's are sexy and fun. There's a time and place for everything."
