The Champ Is Back: John Cena Wins WWE Championship At WrestleMania 29

On Sunday night in front of a crowd of 80,676 people, John Cena defeated the Rock winning the WWE championship at WrestleMania 29.

John Cena and the WWE fans have a love hate relationship. Cena loves the fans and the fans love to hate John Cena. Considered by some to be the face of the WWE John Cena never gets a consistent reaction from the crowd. The WWE universe has their own battle in the crowds at live events. You can hear half the audience shout "Let's Go Cena!" While the other half shouts "Cena Sucks!"

The Cena chants have become a staple at WWE events. It seems every time John Cena is in the ring, on the microphone or having a match the "Let's go/Cena Sucks" chants are not far behind.

The match between the Rock and John Cena has been a year in the making. Last year the Rock made his WWE return and took on John Cena in a series of tit for tat exchanges. The Rock was a part of the WWE attitude era of the 1990's. Upon his return The Rock called out John Cena saying that he was the reason the WWE lost it's edge.

At WrestleMania 28 the Rock defeated John Cena. On the road to WrestleMania 29 John Cena was ready for redemption and eager to prove he could defeat the Rock. After an hour-long match John Cena came out victorious, he and the Rock hugged and shook hands parting as unlikely friends.

John Cena made his WWE debut in June 2002. He was called the "Marky Mark" of wrestling because of his signature rap style. Cena quickly won fans over by rapping against other members of the WWE, often making fun of them. Over the years Cena's image began to change. He evolved from the "bad, bad man" he debuted as into the clean-cut, good guy everyone could count on.

At last night's WrestleMania 29 Cena became the WWE Champion for a twelfth time. Other victories at last nights WrestleMania include Triple H defeating Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker keeping the streak alive defeating CM Punk and becoming 21-0 at WrestleMania.
