7 Workers Die While Cleaning Tank In Mexican Brewery

7 workers died Sunday while cleaning a tank in a brewery in Mexico City. The Grupo Modelo brewery, which makes Corona, released a statement confirming the 7 deaths.

"Modelo is deeply sorry for this incident and will support the affected families permanently," the statement read. There has been no official cause of death for the 7 workers who died at the Brewery. Various reports have suggested that toxic fumes may have been to blame.

The 7 workers were cleaning a section of a tank before they died. Investigators are still looking into the incident and hope to figure out exactly what happened. According to the building manager at the brewery the 7 workers who died were locked inside the cistern without realizing it and continued cleaning.

Following the death of the 7 workers the brewery did not close down operations. There has been no further information released about the deaths of the 7 brewery workers.

The family owned and operated Grupo Modelo brewery was opened in 1925. The brewery, which makes the number one imported beer in the United States, is in the process of being sold to the Anheuser-Busch Company, which is based in Belgium.
