Another Grandmother Arrested? A String Of Crimes Have Led To The Arrests Of Grandmothers Around The World

A number of Grandmothers have been arrested for different crimes recently. The first story involving a grandmother being arrested comes from Ansonia Connecticut. Dian Bushwell, the grandmother of two young children, was arrested along with their parents for operating a drug factory in their home.

On February 16, 33-year-old John Uhlig was pulled over by Connecticut police. When police searched Uhlig's car they found a loaded shotgun and a loaded handgun. Police also found cocaine and marijuana in his car.

After issuing a search warrant for Uhlig's house the police discovered 1.4 ounces of marijuana and 6.5 ounces of cocaine. Uhlig, his wife Jenny and the grandmother of their two children were all arrested and charged with drug possession, intent to sell and endangering minors.

The grandmother and Jenny Uhlig were both released on $10,000 non-security-bonds. There is no further information about when they are due back in court or if they face any additional charges.

Across the pond in South London, police are questioning a grandmother and her husband in the murder of a 12-year-old schoolgirl.

Tia Sharp has been missing for over a week. The police have found human remains in the attic of her grandmother's New Addington home. Tia's step-grandfather, Stuart Hazell was arrested on Friday after police launched a huge manhunt looking for Hazell after he disappeared.

Paul Meehan lives next-door to Tia's grandmother and has also been arrested. Police believe Meehan was involved in the girl's murder.

The police are also under investigation for the way they handled the case. While searching for the missing girl the police checked the grandmother's house several times but never found the human remains.

The Telegraph reports, "Commander Neil Basu, who has headed the case since Tia was reported missing more than a week ago, said: 'Clearly there will be many questions about the investigation into Tia's disappearance and I want to take this opportunity to clarify some of the speculation'."

Commander Basu said that the inspectors initially searched the girl's bedroom and then various other rooms in her grandmother's house.

Basu went on to say, "What we now need to establish is how long the body had been in the place where it was found. This will be subject of the ongoing investigation and it would be wrong to jump to any conclusions until all the facts have been established."

Tia's step-grandfather is presumed to be the last person who saw the girl alive. According to reports the girl told him she was going shopping for flip-flops and left the house alone.

Friends and neighbors left a tribute to Tia near the house where the body was found.

In another bizarre story in which a grandmother gets arrested, Florida woman Theresa Collier was arrested for slapping her 18-year-old granddaughter. The grandmother and her granddaughter Felicia were arguing over Felicia's online class assignments.

The 18-year-old was thrown out of her Catholic School for swearing and enrolled in online classes. Her grandmother was trying to get the girl to finish her homework when an argument broke out.

Felicia kept cursing at her grandmother when finally Collier had enough and slapped the girl in the face. Felicia called the police who showed up and arrested her grandmother for battery.

On Wednesday, Felicia went to court to sign a waiver asking prosecutors not to file charges against her grandmother. Theresa Collier had to wait to hear from the court whether or not she will be taken to court.

Fox News reports Felicia Collier's grandparents are not currently speaking to their granddaughter.
