Bus Driver Dies With Students On Board In New Mexico, Along With Nine Injured And 13 Other Students Were Injured In Virginia Bus Accident

An unidentified bus driver in northern New Mexico died when the school bus of elementary school students he was driving rolled over Monday.

At least nine children were injured - six of them seriously- in the crash in a mountainous area of northern New Mexico, authorities told the Associated Press (AP).

The authorities told the AP that it was not clear if the bus driver had a heart attack or died from the crash. They also said that nine students from Ojo Caliente Elementary were injured and six of those nine were seriously hurt.

All the students' injuries are unknown, but the Rio Arriba Sheriff's Department and state police are currently at the scene 120 miles from Albuquerque, investigating the accident.

In Virginia, there was another school-bus-accident, which 13 elementary students were injured in Dinwiddie County Monday, causing eight students to be hospitalized, but none of the injuries are reportedly serious.

Virginia State police told reporters that the bus ran off the road and hit a tree around 8 a.m. Dinwiddie Superintendent William Clark said eight students were transported to Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg. Hospital spokeswoman Terry Tysinger said the students suffered minor injuries.

Five other students were transported to Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell and released.
