Sarah Palin Calls Tesla Co-Founder Elon Musk's Company Another Loser: Electric Car Maker Tweets He Is 'Deeply Wounded' By The Ex-Gov's Comments [PHOTOS]
Sarah Palin called Tesla electric carmaker Elon Musk's company a loser, in a Facebook post on Friday.
"Once again, the American public lost when the Obama administration attempted to pick "winners and losers" in the free market. Today the electric car company Fisker Automotive, which received nearly $200 million in taxpayer money, is laying off three-fourths of its U.S. workers," Palin wrote.
"This losing tax-subsidized venture joins other past losers...like the Obama-subsidized Tesla that turns into a "brick" when the battery completely discharges and then costs $40,000 to repair," the former Alaskan government and 2008 vice presidential candidate added.
Unlike electric car competitor Fisker, Tesla has been seeing their recent stock prices soar, according to Slate.
A $465 million startup loan from the U.S. Department of Energy awarded to Tesla in 2010 will be repaid five years ahead of schedule, according to a report last month from Bloomberg.
Yet, Tesla is still a bunch of losers in Sarah's book.
"This is really just the latest manifestation of the administration's crony capitalism as their green energy buddies benefit from this atrocious waste of taxpayer money," Palin added. "Americans really need to get outraged by these wasteful ventures. As we've seen time and time again, We the People are always stuck subsidizing the left's "losers."
Facebook user Iam Quang agrees.
"If Tesla is producing good products, then why does Tesla need my tax money?" he wrote on Palin's Facebook page on Wednesday.
Tesla's co-founder Musk took to Twitter on Monday to respond to the Sarah Palin attack on his company and the assertion that his company's S Class model, the 2013 Motor Trend Car of the Year, costs $40,000 to repair if the battery becomes fully discharged.
"Sarah Palin calls Tesla a loser. Am deeply wounded," Musk tweeted. "Btw, Model S warranty does cover "bricking."
Ashley Esqueda was amused by Palin's comments.
"Sarah Palin calling Tesla a loser...god, there are so many jokes in there, I can't even," Esqueda tweeted Monday.
