D-1, Psy is Returning with Release of 'Gentleman'

In less than a day, we will get to hear Psy's long-awaited new release, "Gentleman."

At noon local time on April 12, fans worldwide will have a first listen at the new song that follows what was the greatest K-Pop sensation up to date, "Gangnam Style."

With expectations soaring sky high, there are already speculations as to whether "Gentleman" can outdo "Gangnam Style" which ranked second place on Billboard, an unprecedented feat by an Asian star. During preparation stages of "Gentleman," associates repeatedly admitted the enormous pressure of following up the mega hit with something that will continue the hot streak.

Many are raising their voices and suggesting that the public needs to help Psy become established as a world star rather than throw comparisons and knock on his new release. Realistically, to record another billion Youtube hits is possible but unlikely. "It would be fantastic to have another record breaker like 'Gangnam Style' but even if it does not pan out to be as virally successful, it will not necessarily be a failure. We can't resort to a simple comparison," an associate commented.

Of course, expectations do not have an on-off switch and fans across the world have their hopes up. In an episode of "The Office," a popular sitcom on NBC networks, there was a scene in which a character wonders if people were huddled around a computer monitor because of a new "Gangnam Style" music video.

Fortunately, the dream team that made 'Gangnam Style' possible remained intact to work on the new music video. So our hopes and expectations might have company up a mile high on April 12, when the song will be released.

'Gentleman', reported to be an up-tempo club song, will be released in 119 countries worldwide at noon local time on April 12.

A live performance of 'Gentleman,' which will be broadcast via Youtube, will take place on April 13 at his solo concert 'Happening' in Seoul.
