Royal Prank DJ Involved In A Nurse’s Suicide Is The ‘Next Top Jock’; Australian Minister Condemns The Award, It’s ‘Bad Taste’

After being a part of a prank call that lead to a nurse's suicide, the royal prank DJ is being rewarded by his employer.

The royal prank DJ involved in a sick prank on the Duchess of Cambridge Hospital was recently given an accolade as the Next Top Jock in the land. And the Federal Communications Minister did not like it, saying the award is inappropriate.

Micheal Christian, one of the royal prank DJs, was lauded with the Top Jock award by his employer, Southern Cross Austereo. The royal prank DJ said in a statement that he feels that he is at the top of his game after getting the award.

The royal prank DJ told, "From the start, I felt like I had something to prove to myself ... Regardless of all that's happened in the past few months, I'm still at the top of my game. So it felt good to see my name at the top of the final leader board!"

MC, the royal prank DJ, together with his partner, Mel Greig (who was already cut off by the management) made a hoax call on December, during a radio show on Australia's 2Day FM to the Duchess of Cambridge Hospital to impersonated Prince Charles and the Queen to get more information about Kate Middleton's pregnancy, where she was being treated for morning sickness.

Jacintha Saldanha,46 years old,  the nurse who initially answered the phone was found dead days later because of suicide. Saldanha did not give any information about pregnancy but she transferred the call to the duchess' room where another nurse did share information.

And just recently, the federal Communications Minister of Australia, Senator Stephen Conroy criticized the award given to the royal prank DJ. "I think there's a bit of bad taste involved there. There were some very serious consequences of what was a prank and to be seen to be rewarding people so soon after such an event, I think, is just in bad taste," the senator told 3AW, a radio station in Melbourne.

The royal prank DJ who was awarded as the Next Top Jock had won a trip to Los Angeles to have a studio tour of the leading radio stations in the city.
