Drawing comparisons to other famous alter-egos in the rap community, such as Eminem's Slim Shady and Nicki Minaj's The Harajuku Barbie, Suga explained how Agust D allowed him to voice his thoughts when he felt silenced as an idol.

As Suga matures, he notices how he's learning to manage his anger well, and this has greatly shifted the style of the music he produces.
