MC Garners Backlash After Handing Out Oh My Girl Members' Used Water Bottles To Male Fans

A male MC is facing backlash after giving out Oh My Girl's used water battles to men in the audience.

On May 22, 2024, Oh My Girl was one of the artists who performed at the Sun Moon Balloon Festival. The girl group performed a nearly half-hour-long set for the university students in attendance. While the girls looked amazing during their performance, it was sadly not their set that garnered attention online.

Instead, it was the "disgusting" actions of the MC following their performance that went viral.

It was noted that the majority of the audience members at the front were men. While this does not necessarily foreshadow an inappropriate interaction, the actions of the MC and several festival-goers following Oh My Girl's set make the whole situation even more disturbing for fans.

Following Oh My Girl's performance, the male MC was seen handing out the members' used water bottles, which they were seen drinking from throughout their set, as prizes to male fans who watched the girl group. In some videos shared by fans from the event, some fans were able to come on stage to personally select which member's water bottle they wanted to take home.

After footage of this was shared online, Korean netizens expressed their disgust at the situation. Many pointed out that it was likely the male MC did not get permission from the members to do so, and wondered if this was considered sexual harassment. Some even believed that the male MC deserved to be reported for the situation.

The male fans who received the water bottle also received backlash, with people wondering why they would do such a thing.

International fans also expressed their disgust, with many wondering how this could be considered "normal." Many hated how perverted the mindset of some men is, finding it even more disturbing that the men were able to select which member's bottles they wanted.
