NCT Taeyong Slammed For Hypocrisy Amid Deleted Starbucks Post: 'Why Doesn't He Boycott Loewe?'

Korean netizens are calling NCT member Taeyong out for his hypocrisy following his now-deleted Instagram post supposedly shading Starbucks.

In South Korea, Starbucks released a collaboration with NCT, featuring many merchandise with both the Starbucks and NCT branding. Soon after the collaboration was released, SM Entertainment was slammed for allowing NCT to work with a controversial brand.

Currently, people from around the world are boycotting Starbucks due to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. While Starbucks does not have any locations in Israel and does not fund the IOF, the company has been slammed for trying to sue worker unions who have voiced their support for Palestine.

Many believe Taeyong himself has commented on the matter. After Starbucks Korea shared posts of their collaboration with NCT, Taeyong took to his Instagram Story to share the word "Boycott." Many believe this is Taeyong's way of confirming he is boycotting Starbucks, while also urging fans to not buy the collaboration.

His move has earned massive support from international fans, who praised the idol for speaking up on such a large issue. However, he also earned some backlash from people who believed he was being selfish, as his actions could potentially harm the other NCT members. Now, Korean netizens are calling out Taeyong for his hypocrisy.

On May 30, 2024, a post titled "The funny thing about Taeyong is that he is not boycotting Loewe" was uploaded to Instiz, a popular South Korean online community forum.

In 2023, Taeyong was named the global ambassador for Loewe and has been actively working with the brand since. However, Loewe is one of the brands people are boycotting amid the Israel-Palestine conflict. According to the BDS website, Loewe is under the LVMH company. The CEO, Bernard Arnault, has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in Israeli companies.

However, Taeyong is still tied with Loewe. Many are wondering why Taeyong is not cutting ties with the fashion house while boycotting Starbucks. Many called him out for his hypocrisy, with some claiming he is protecting his individual projects while having no problem tarnishing group gigs.

Another netizen noted that Taeyong is also the face of Benefit Korea, which is also under LVMH. With his individual projects having ties to pro-Israel companies, many believe Taeyong has shown how selfish he is.
