fromis_9 Reveals They Learned About Their Comeback Through Fans

A fromis_9 member revealed the group was not informed of their upcoming comeback, and only heard about it through fans.

On May 31, 2024, PLEDIS Entertainment informed several media outlets that fromis_9 would be releasing a new album in August. This would make it the girl group's first comeback in a year and two months.

However, it appears the company informed media outlets before the members themselves.

On June 4, several media outlets shared a video of member Hayoung from a radio show discussing the comeback. There, she revealed that she was never aware that the group was preparing an album slated for an August release.

She then revealed that she only caught wind about the comeback from fans. She revealed that the group has not been preparing for a comeback, and she believes the group is not ready for it at all.

This revelation angered fans and Korean netizens. Many slammed PLEDIS Entertainment for their unprofessionalism, and for sabotaging fromis_9 even when they are meant to be releasing new music.

Some believe it might be better for the group to leave PLEDIS rather than be mistreated.

• "A comeback requires the idols to be ready to sing and dance, so how can the idols involved not know that?"
• "Are they planning to release a single song in August and disband without renewing their contract? Why aren't they ready?"
• "If it's by August, shouldn't they be working on the album now? How can they do it in just a few months?"
• "Why is that company doing such a disservice to their fans?"
• "Is their contract ending soon? I think they are going to disband."
• "I hate PLEDIS because they have neglected their girl groups more than once."

fromis_9's last musical release was the single "Love Me Back" as part of the OST soundtrack for the Naver webtoon "Operation: True Love" on October 11, 2023. Prior to that, they released their first studio album, "Unlock My World" on June 5, 2023.

Amid the backlash against HYBE Labels and PLEDIS Entertainment for their mistreatment of fromis_9, their fans, FLOVERs, have sent protest trucks and funerals wreaths to their building. Many are demanding better treatment for the girl group.
