‘The Last Of Us’: Ellie’s Strong Deuteragonist Character Makes The PS3 Exclusive Video Game More Compelling

One of the main characters from "The Last of Us", Ellie, is a young yet strong-willed character who makes the survival video game even more compelling.

"The Last of Us" is an exclusive game from PS3, which was released last week. Before and after the release date of "The Last of Us", the video game has been receiving highly positive reviews from the fans, critics and video game experts. Naughty Dog, the developer of "The Last of Us' succeeded in creating a post-apocalyptic survival game that is a "modern classic but also one of the finest gaming experiences of all time," as stated in the review made by Eurogamer Sweden. The review continued with, "The fact that they set a new bar for interactive storytelling almost seems like a bonus."

The good reviews and high sales achieved by the Sony PlayStation 3 exclusive can be attributed to the interesting story, challenging levels and uniquely interesting characters such as Ellie of The Last of Us.

The young character from "The Last of Us", Ellie is the second leading star, after Joel. She is a 14-year old female who was born after the fungal infection had already ruined the modern civilization. In the Last of Us, Ellie does not know a life outside the high walls of the quarantine area as she was raised in fear. However, something happens in Ellie's home forcing her to skip town with The Last of Us main character, Joel. Together, they ramble on the west hiding from the military and authorities, struggling to survive against other impeding threats.

The Last of Us' Ellie is portrayed as a capable and aggressive young character as she travels the west with Joel. IGN reported that according to Naughty Dog, "The Last of Us"' Ellie is highly influenced by a character from True Grit, Mattie Ross. Ellie of The Last of US is a coming-of-age character under the protection of Joel. Naughty Dog shared, "When she is around Joel, she is slightly being corrupted, but in some ways being given the tools to become independent."
