'Under The Dome' CBS Adaptation Of Stephen King Proves Just As Twisted; 5 Gruesome Gifs From The New Mini-Series [Video]

Stephen King's 2009 magnum opus, Under the Dome, will premiere on CBS Monday night, but as footage from the opener leaks, it might even be more twisted than King's novel.

The show is based on the novel of the same name, Under the Dome, and the series, like the book, is centered around a little town that is quickly quarantined under a transparent dome.

Obviously such a cataclysmic encounter wrecks the lives of those people inside the dome's omnipotent presence, and the havoc is fierce during the 1,074 page tome King wrote.

But some new footage from the teaser trailer for the TV adaptation, offers a first-hand glimpse of some of the carnage wrecked on the small town of Chester's Mill.

Just picture waking up one morning, and the town you live in is completely cut off from the outside world by a semipermeable dome over the town.

It's science fiction writing of the highest order, and King has played a role in the adaptation for the small screen.

Stephen King is known for his gruesome sequnces in a host of fiction he's published under his own name and numerous nom de plume's for decades.

But this television adaptation comes from one of his more PG stories, and with the blood split, it should give casual Stephen King fans a reminder that he's horror's best--and most visually appealing--storyteller.

Here are five gifs to show you how gruesome the adaptation really looks:

5) The Dome appears.

4) The Dome's initial appearance in the teaser shows how damanging a "20,000" foot high dome can do to a small town when appears out of the ether. Like, say, for a truck on the roadway.

3) And for air travel, since it's an enclosed Dome with no one getting out, or in.

2) But it's the relationships that really suffer. Like for those caught on opposite sides of the Dome.

1) This is perhaps the most gruesome scene in the teaser. Once the Dome appears, it destroys everything in its way. That includes cows, as this unfortunate bovine finds out.

We can't wait for Under the Dome now.
