Nexus 7 2 Tablet Release Date Rumors, Specs: Google’s Alleged New Tablet ‘Asus K009’ Bluetooth SIG, FCC Certified, Suggests July Release

Google's Nexus 7 2 tablet's release date could be as early as July of this year, according to a report from Eastern Morning Herald.

The Herald reported that the 4G LTE device, under the name 'Asus K009,' is expected to be released next month.

Last week, two Asus devices, the K008 and K009, were discovered listed under Bluetooth SIG and FCC certifications. Although the Asus device isn't confirmed as Google's Nexus 7 2 tablet, the coincidence is a large one. The Nexus tablet is expected to be released to the public in July, and the filing was dated to June.

Google and Asus haven't yet confirmed the rumors.

However, a photo leaked by the Eastern Morning Herald adds to the evidence, as the device in the photo closely resembles the previous edition of the Nexus 7.

The Nexus 7 2 is expected to include Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core, instead of the previously used Nvidia Tegra quad-core, which is considered a significant improvement, according to Gotta Be Mobile.

Additional specs of the Nexus 7 2 allegedly include a 7-inch display, 1080p resolution, 1.9 megapixel camera, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, Wi-Fi/4G LTE versions and a 4,000 mAh battery, according to the International Business Times AU.

AT&T and Sprint are expected to carry the Nexus 7 2 tablet, as they did with the Nexus 7. But, the next-gen Google Nexus 7 device is also expected to support Verizon Wireless' LTE network, Gotta Be Mobile claims.

Google isn't expected to raise the price of the Nexus 7 2 much, but the cost of the device may be increased by $20 to $220. But, as Google has rounded prices for its products in the past, more likely prices for the tablet are either $199 or $250 for the most basic variety of the Nexus 7 2.
