"Star Wars" George Lucas Marries Mellody Hobson, Samuel L. Jackson And Ron Howard Congratulate, Bill Moyers Officiates

George Lucas, creator of "Star Wars," married longtime girlfriend Mellody Hobson on Saturday night. Famous actors and public figures Samuel L. Jackson,  Ron Howard, and Bill Moyers among others were present.

"Let's give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his Bride Melodie on This their WEDDING DAY!! Congrats!!!!!!" tweeted actor Samuel L. Jackson, who played Mace Windu in three "Star Wars" films.

Director Ron Howard also congratulated the couple. "George Lucas Melody Hobson wedding was joy to behold Bill Moyers service was beautiful, nothing short of profound.  Congrats Mr&Mrs Lucas," he tweeted.

Howard also starred in Lucas's classic film "American Graffiti."

Journalist and ordained minister Bill Moyers officiated the ceremony.

Lucas has dated Hobson, an investment executive, for more than six years, Yahoo! News reports. The wedding was held in Marin County, California, the location of Lucas's Skywalker Ranch.

Hollywoodlife.com reports that George, 69, became engaged to Mellody, 44, in January. The pair have been dating since 2006.

Mellody is in charge of the investment management firm, Ariel Investments. She also is a money and personal finance contributor to ABC News,  as well as chairman of the board at Dreamworks Animation SKG Inc., People magazine reports.

Perhaps now that Lucas has sold the "Star Wars" franchise to Disney and retired from the films (which are now being directed by J.J. Abrams), the famed director has the time and freedom to focus on his marriage.
