‘Pacific Rim’ Movie: New Trailer Features Idris Elba As Stacker Pentecost, Poster Of Kaiju-Jaeger Battle Available For Viewers At Early IMAX Screenings [VIDEO]

"Pacific Rim" got a new trailer last night, aired as a television spot in the post-apocalyptic series "Under The Dome," which is based on the Stephen King novel and adapted for television by Brian K. Vaughn of "Y: The Last Man."

Adding to the hype for the robot-alien film, a special edition poster for early IMAX screenings of "Pacific Rim" has also been revealed.

The latest "Pacific Rim" trailer differs from the previous clips in its focus on tension, and not just the scale of robot-monster battles.

"When 30-story aliens and robots are doing battle, everyone is bound to feel the terrifying effects, and this trailer gets that across wonderfully," Cinema Blend's Eric Eisenberg wrote.

In the trailer, Rinko Kikuchi's anxious breath is played over scenes of destruction and battle, building tension and showing the fear that people facing these apocalyptic monsters must feel. But not everyone has lost hope, as Idris Elba's character Stacker Pentecost rouses a crowd in a stirring speech.

"We have chosen not only to believe in ourselves, but each other," Elba states. "Today, we face the monsters that are at our door. Today we are cancelling the apocalypse!"

"Pacific Rim" is set in a future in which alien monsters named Kaiju have emerged from a cross-dimensional rift in the Pacific Ocean. Kaiju invade and attack heavily populated cities, so the United Nations organizes the Jaeger program, which builds giant robots to fight the aliens.

Pairs of pilots link brains to control the Jaeger robots. The link is called a "Neural Handshake," we discover in the trailer.

The plot focuses on a veteran (Charlie Hunnam) and an inexperienced pilot (Kikuchi) who pair up to drive an outdated Jaeger model called Gypsy Dancer to save the world, according to Cinema Blend.

A new poster for the del Toro film created by Los Angeles artist Sergio Grisanti has been released, featuring a Jaeger mid-battle with a Kaiju.

The limited-edition poster was made for IMAX's Fanfix series and will only be available at the first IMAX screenings of "Pacific Rim," Hero Complex reports.

"I am thrilled to introduce Sergio Grisanti to the world," said del Toro in a statement. "For years he has been a highly respected commercial artist. When I was first exposed to his art for 'Pacific Rim,' I knew instantly that he was a powerhouse of talent. He created the Jaeger posters/card art we used at WonderCon. Without any hesitation I asked him to create this new IMAX Fanfix art. Look at it closely - with a magnifying glass! So much going on! Such power! Such beauty! Sergio loves his Kaijus and his Mecha, and it shows. The poster, like my film, is a tribute to well-loved things. I wish all the fans the best time at the first IMAX screenings of 'Pacific Rim.' Enjoy!"

"Pacific Rim" will hit theaters on July 12 in 3D, 2D and IMAX.
