Black Sabbath ‘13’: First No. 1 Album For Heavy Metal Band In Four Decades, Will Kanye’s Album ‘Yeezus’ Take Next Week’s Top Spot?

Black Sabbath's album "13" topped the Billboard 200 album chart on Wednesday, becoming the first No. 1 album for the band 43 years after their first album debuted in the United States.

"13" is the 19th studio album from Black Sabbath and sold 155,000 copies in its first week, The Christian Science Monitor reports. The album knocked Queens of the Stone Age's album off the top spot on the weekly U.S. chart.

"13" fell to second place on the U.K. charts this week.

Black Sabbath is a British rock band that features lead singer Ozzy Osbourne. They released their debut self-titled album in the U.S. in 1970, but never reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart in their career that has spanned more than four decades.

Black Sabbath also includes guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward, The Los Angeles Times reports.

"The news is absolutely amazing - we couldn't have imagined this would happen," Iommi said in a statement.

Osbourne added, "to finally have our first No. 1 album in the U.S. is another incredible milestone for Black Sabbath."

"13" also marks the first time that Osbourne, Iommi and Butler have appeared on an album together since "Never Say Die!" in 1978.

Next month, Black Sabbath will start their North American tour in Houston, Texas.

Next week's chart is likely to see a high debut from rapper Kanye West, who released his highly-anticipated latest record "Yeezus" this week, and is currently at the top of the iTunes album chart, according to Reuters.

French electronic duo Daft Punk held onto No. 2 for the second week with "Random Access Memories," which has sold 543,000 copies since its release on May 18.

Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience" saw an increase in sales last week after the album was discounted for Father's Day, with 35,000 copies sold and rose from No. 9 to No. 3, Reuters reports.
