Jackie Chan Dead? Movie Star Is Alive, Refutes 2013 Death Rumors And Shares Facebook Photo With Today’s Newspaper

Jackie Chan is not dead, but is alive and well, according to a recent Facebook post in which he assures fans that the death news is a hoax. Chan also posted a picture on Facebook of himself holding a newspaper with the date on it, to prove that the message is recent.

Last week, the 59-year-old action superstar actor was the victim of a death hoax on Facebook, when a page entitled "R.I.P. Jackie Chan" was created, according to Yahoo! News. A post reported: "At about 11am on Wednesday, our beloved actor Jackie Chan passed away. Jackie Chan was born on April 7, 1954 in Hong Kong. He will be missed but not forgotten."

The page also encouraged fans to offer condolences by commenting on and liking the page.

Yahoo! News also writes that the Global Associated News then claimed that the actor died while shooting for a film in Austria, after falling down 50 feet in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm Mountains.

Jackie, who was on a trip to India, decided to dismiss the death reports himself through a Facebook message, as well as uploading a photo of himself.

The actor wrote, "Hi everybody! Yesterday, I got on a 3am flight from India to Beijing. I didn't get a chance to sleep and even had to clean my house when I got home. Today, everybody called to congratulate me on my rumoured engagement. Afterward, everybody called me to see if I was alive. If I died, I would probably tell the world! I took a photo with today's date, just in case you don't believe me! However, thank you all for your concern. Kiss kiss and love you all!"

He further added: "P.S. My dog is healthy, just like me! He doesn't need surgery! By the way, my dogs are golden retrievers, not Labradors."

The "Rush Hour" star held up the June 21 newspaper to prove that he is still alive.

"Tell everyone! Ha ha! To make people believe it, please look at the photo! Thank you for everyone's concern and love!" Chan wrote.

Chan is currently working on his upcoming film "Police Story 2013." It is scheduled to hit theaters on December 24 in China.
