"The reality is that every time a generation changes the playing field is leveled. We actually think that we're going to have superior graphic fidelity, but the whole value proposition has to be right," said Sony vice president Guy Longworth in an interview with Games Industry.

"We think that's the right thing for gamers. We think that's the right thing for our platform, and we're very happy to tell people about it. What we try to do is offer a relatively level playing field and let the gamers decide."

"We're not trying to advantage them, we believe in consumer choice," he added.

Sony's representative also touched based on the Xbox One's restrictions on used games and the online game purchase system - he believes both policies will hurt Microsoft's ability to sell more consoles since many gamers are turned off from the idea.

Longworth also mentioned that while purchasing games online seems more advanced and convenient at first sight, it takes away from the experience gamers have with exchanging their video games.

"It's clear that the vast majority of the people want to go down to GameStop or Best Buy, they don't want to buy it online right now. How that might change in the future is kind of hard to predict."

Sony is currently leading ahead of Microsoft in Playstation 4 console units sold as the PS4 continues to dominate the video game market.
