Is 'Under The Dome' The New 'Lost' [VIDEO]? 13 Million Watch Stephen King TV Premiere, Producers Know 'What The Final Episode Will Be'

In a rare moment for a non-reality summer series, CBS has hit it big with the premiere of the Stephen King-based "Under the Dome," and producer Brian K. Vaughan wants "15 seasons" if all goes well!

"You know, [co-producer] Neal Baer has already worked on two shows that have gone at least 15 seasons," says Vaughan during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

"So a conservative 15 seasons sounds about right!"

Despite having just had its series premiere last night, a long run may just be in the one-hour drama's future.

According to The New York Times, the premiere drew in an astounding 13.1 million viewers, which is fairly unusual for a summer time show that is not something along the lines of "The Voice" or "America's Got Talent."

Considering "Under the Dome" was up against the Stanley Cup Finals Game (which drew in 8.3 million), it's fair to say the Steven Spielberg-produced series is off to a fantastic start.

"Hopefully this is just the start of an incredible journey. The fun will come in the second season, so fingers crossed that people will want to stick around with Chester's Mill," continued Vaughan, who also worked on "Lost."

And like "Lost," Vaughan promises the creative team knows what the end-game will be, down to the final scene.

"The 'Gilligan's Island' model is fair. It might go on for a while, but they get off the island and that's the end of it. Similarly, that dome is going to be there for at least the duration of however long our series goes, but we do know exactly what the final episode would be and what the final scene of the final episode would be."

"We have left ourselves some leeway on how we're going to get there, depending on how long people will stick with us for the journey, but we hope it will be for a long time because each month that they're under there, I think the show gets more and more interesting as their lives change significantly."
