PS4 Vs. Xbox One: Who Has A Better Headset Deal? Sony And Microsoft Compete To Offer Better Price, Specs For Next-Generation Console Communications

As Sony and Microsoft continue to battle each other in a price, specs war - with Nintendo sitting on the sidelines - gamers are now focusing their attention on what kind of headset deals the PS4 and Xbox One will offer.

Both next generation consoles have audio and video communications capabilities, but for different prices and deals: the PS4 comes with a free mono headset, that doesn't include a camera, while the Xbox One sells a headset, with a camera, that isn't included in the basic package.

The PS4, priced at $399, will feature a mono headset that plugs directly into the Dualshock 4 controller but will not include the camera - a risky move for Sony.

But Xbox One might turn down socially apt gamers by not offering any free headset options.

Microsoft's next-generation console headsets will also have a proprietary headphone jack, meaning that only Xbox One-related products will be able to connect, limiting the console's scope of use.

PS4's mono headset will use the standard headset jack and will be available for use with multiple products.

Gamers reacting to the console battle over the use of headsets sounded off on Kotaku, a video game blog site.

"Everything counts, and everything gaming related is ground up in the process. Oceans of money. The fate of IPs both present and future. And most importantly of all, the livelihoods of the folks involved in the process of making and marketing games," commented one gamer.

"There's nothing that prevents you from just plugging a regular set of headphones into your TV or sound system if you want to listen privately on the One. Kinect can still pick up your voice," another gamer mentioned.
