Two-Headed Turtle Born, Named Thelma And Louise: Zoo Staffers Say Healthy, Not Expected To Drive Convertible Off Cliff

A two-headed turtle was born in Texas this week. And naturally, the turtle was named Thelma and Louise.

The two-faced turtle was a Texas river cooter, a type of small river turtle. It was born at the Friedrich Aquarium at the San Antonio Zoo, one of four new turtles born last week.

The two-headed hatchling  was named Thelma and Louise by staffers. No word on which is which.

Zoo spokeswoman  Debbie Rios-Vanskike said the the two-faced female turtle is totally healthy. Rios-Vanskike said that Thelma and Louise can walk and swim just fine with her single-headed brothers and sisters. The zoo doesn't anticipate problems in the future.

Besides, you know, driving a convertible off a cliff following a police chase-down/ feminist roadtrip.

This isn't the first time the San Antonio Zoo had a two-headed Texan creature. The zoo was home to a a two-headed Texas rat snake named, appropriately enough, Janus.

Someone in Texas is pretty good at names.
