Colts Safety Joe Lefeged Arrested: Gun Charges Among The Five Given To Lefeged As The Driver And Him Allegedly Fled From Cops

Colts safety Joe Lefeged arrested Saturday after police found a semiautomatic pistol poking out from under the passenger seat of the white Camaro he was in at the time.

The Colts safety Joe Lefeged arrested after the car was reportedly driving erratically, Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Araz Alali told CNN.

Along with Colts safety Joe Lefeged arrested was the alleged driver, 23-year-old Aaron Wilson. When they were pulled over, the police allegedly asked them to put the car in park.

"The driver of the vehicle then stepped on the gas and accelerated," nearly hitting some of the four officers who were surrounding the vehicle, the documents said.

The authorities said that both men fled on foot, going in opposite directions. They were soon arrested with no further problem.

Lefeged and Wilson were both arrested on suspicion of carrying a firearm without a license, having an unregistered firearm, having unregistered ammunition, presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of an open container of alcohol, according to Alil.

The 25-year-old Colts defensive back did not enter a plea during his initial court appearance in D.C. Superior Court on Saturday.

According to the district's law, "no person shall carry within the District of Columbia either openly or concealed on or about their person, a pistol, or any deadly or dangerous weapon capable of being so concealed."

Lefeged went undrafted in 2011 after playing at Rutgers, but signed as a free agent with the Indianapolis Colts. He played in every game for the two seasons he's been on the team.
