Pride Parade 2013: Lady Gaga Hip Surgery Recovery, Sings National Anthem In New York City, Thanks LGBT Community For Saving Her [VIDEO]

Lady Gaga made her first public appearance since her hip surgery at New York City's gay pride parade on Friday, where she thanked the LGBT community for their support and altered the national anthem to apply to the audience.

Lady Gaga hasn't been in public since her hip surgery in February. She appeared to have fully recovered on Friday, when she delivered a speech and sang her own version of the national anthem while holding a rainbow flag at Pier 26 in New York, USA Today reports.

The pop star sang: "O say does that star-spangled flag of pride yet wave," then substituted "land of the free, and the home for the gay."

Lady Gaga posted a photo of herself in a wedding gown to her Twitter account Wednesday, The Washington Times reports, to celebrate the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn DOMA, allowing legally married same-sex couples to have the same federal benefits as heterosexual pairs already have, in essence striking down "Prop. 8." This also allowed for the legalization of gay marriage in California, NBC News writes.

"We stand tall today.#DomaStruckDown So many fought for so long. Be proud, the prejudice are now the minority," Lady Gaga tweeted with her photo.

Lady Gaga gave an emotional speech, thanking the LGBT community for supporting her and her music. "It was you that saved me," she said. "You saved me, my friends in the LGBT community time and time again. And I saw God for the first real time in all of you. You were sent to me like angels to protect me and to save me. It was you who understood my need to hide behind the wigs, the glasses, the glamour, the clothing."
