Serena Williams Winning Streak Ends at Wimbledon; Lisicki `Still Shaking’ (Video)

Serena Williams’ winning streak is over. The tennis dynamo was defeated by Sabine Lisicki in a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 match at Wimbledon today, according to published reports.Serena Williams recently rocked the French Open 2013.

Williams said "I probably couldn't be more disappointed. I think I may have backed off of a success. I was playing something successful. I didn't continue that path. The result didn't go the way it could have gone had I continued to play the way I did in the second set."

Serena Williams’ winning streak lasted through 34 straight games before she faced off against the 23-seeded German at Center Court. Lisicki will take on Kaia Kanepi as she advances to the quarterfinals at the All England Club.

In a post-match interview, Lisicki said "I'm still shaking. I'm so happy. Serena played a fantastic match. She's such a tough opponent. Just an amazing feeling to win this match."
In 2011, Lisicki reached the semifinals at the All England Club.

The world’s number one player defeated Maria Sharapova to win her second French Open just last month. That wasn’t their only match up. The two faced off at the beginning of Wimbledon off the court when Sharapova took offense at comments made by Williams made in a recent Rolling Stone interview.

Referring to her rumored ex-boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov, Williams said Sharapova was "not going to be invited to the cool parties. And, hey, if she wants to be with the guy with a black heart, go for it."

At a pre-tournament press conference, Sharapova said "Obviously I have a tremendous amount of respect for Serena and what she's achieved on the court. If she wants to talk about something personal, maybe she should talk about her relationship and her boyfriend that was married and is getting a divorce and has kids."

Williams later apologized to Sharapova, saying she "made it a point to reach out to Maria...because she was inadvertently brought into the situation by assumptions made by the reporter."
