Maria Sharapova Boyfriend: Dating Grigor Dimitrov Kills Tennis Career? Russian Tennis Star Fails At Wimbledon 2013 After Falling In Love With Serena Williams’ Former Lover

Maria Sharapova lost in the second round at Wimbledon 2013 because she was in love with Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov, Annebel Croft, a former tennis player, tells The Telegraph.

"Sharapova is in love," Croft said.

"After she lost to Michelle Larcher de Brito, who was ranked 131, she spoke beautifully, with good grace and humility, and was much less upset that I would have expected."

Although Maria Sharapova made an early exit at the Wimbledon 2013, she cheered on boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov during the men's singles match between the Bulgarian tennis star and Grega Zemlja of Slovenia.

Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova have made headlines for their lives off of the tennis courts and their recent comments about each other's personal relationships.

But the two were spotted snapping photos together at the Women's Tennis Association's '40 Love' party last weekend, raising rumors that the two tennis stars are making amends after a recent spat over Grigor Dimitrov and their relationships.

"For Sharapova even to enter into that sort of exchange speaks volumes; Serena must really have hit a nerve," said Croft. "I think love has softened Sharapova off the court but I think it's also distracted her on the court."

Serena Williams, who was knocked out of the Wimbledon 2013 after Sabine Lisicki ended her winning streak on Monday, personally apologized to Maria Sharapova about her recent comments two days before the Russian tennis star retaliated with her own thoughts, the New England Sports Network reports.
