Downton Abbey Season 4 Spoilers: A First Look At Black Character Jack Ross, Working On UK Series Is Like A 'Love Affair'

As "Downton Abbey" fans eagerly await season 4, set photos continue to come in showing our favorite UK aristocrats, but this time it includes the first black character on the show, Jack Ross, played by actor Gary Carr.

First captured by the Daily Mail, the photos show Jack, an American jazz singer, rowing a boat while enjoying Lady Rose MacClare's company.

Coming into series four as a way of diversifying the exclusively white cast, the 26-year-old Carr is joining "Downton Abbey" to bring "interesting twists to the drama," says producer Gareth Neame.

But Carr is not the only one seemingly enjoying his time on the hit series.

In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar, actress Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary, admits that "a part of [her] doesn't want it to end."

"It's like this love affair that I have with my job."

Despite her character suffering a devastating blow with the tragic death of her husband, Matthew (played by Dan Stevens), Dockery seems no worse for the wear.

"It's very easy in this business to take things a little too seriously or yourself too seriously, and I grew up learning how to laugh at myself," admits the 31-year-old according to The Huffington Post.

"Once it's all over, I'm sure there will be a period when I feel slightly at a loss."

"Downton Abbey" season four is currently slated to be released this September.
