Pot Mom New York Makes Bail; Only Her Hair Stylist Know for Sure (Video)

Pot mom in New York rolled out of jail after posting $500,000 bail. The New York mother of three was busted on suspicion of running a $3 million pot growing operation. The pot mom of New York, Andrea Sanderlin, had her bond co-signed by four friends, including two hair stylists. It sounds like an episode of "Weeds."

Pot mom of New York pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to manufacture, distribute and possess 1,000 or more pot plants in a $3 million pot operation that she ran out of a warehouse in Queens. The pot growing mama was released from jail on a $500,000 bond. A federal magistrate judge expressed concerns about the pot mom’s finances and about the friends who stepped up to co-sign for her.

In federal court in Brooklyn, Judge Steven M. Gold said "For all I know, she has millions of dollars or she could have a couple hundred dollars. She hasn't worked, but she's living in Scarsdale and driving a Mercedes. I can't add that up."

Law officials said that Andrea Sanderlin has remained tight-lipped since her arrest. She has avoided answering questions about how she paid for her upscale lifestyle in Scarsdale, N.Y. The pot mom was arrested in May as she arrived at a warehouse in Maspeth, Queens, in her Mercedes SUV. Hydrophonic marijuana and growing equipment, state-of-the-art lighting, ventilation and irrigation systems, more than 2,800 pot plants, and a large quantity of dried marijuana seized from the warehouse. Sanderlin and her daughters, ages 3 and 13, were living in a rented $2.3 million home on Saxon Woods Road until the landlord told them to move out.

In commenting on her co-signers, the judge told the defense attorney that he didn’t "have a heck of a lot of moral impact on your client." He noted that the friends last saw her at a party six months ago. The judge said he would need signatures of her mother and other relatives by Wednesday if she wants to stay free.

Sanderlin’s lawyer Joel Winograd said "She's very happy to be going home to be with her children," her lawyer, Joel Winograd, said. "She's going to take a hot shower, eat a good meal and try to get on with the rest of her life."

Sanderlin had been separated from her daughters since May 20.
